| About the Green Flag Team! Our goals and focuses In Green Flag Team this term we are focussing on cutting down on the school's energy costs and usage in order to aid the environment and the schools profit. We are trying to get better at turning off the lights and projectors in the classrooms and other rooms around the school. Each class will have an energy monitor whose job it is to remind the class teacher to turn off the lights and projectors during breaks and assemblies. We are also trying to cut down on paper wastage and costs. If we achieve this we can spend the savings on better resources for all of us at school. Also we have a tetra pack bin in the dining hall that we are encouraging the children to use but we would like it if you could use recyclable bottles. The Green Flag Team meets every week to see how they can promote green activities and behaviour in the school. By doing this we hope to achieve the Eco Schools Green Flag award. We currently have the silver award but will be applying for green flag status very soon. As a school we try very hard to fulfil our commitment to our eco code and we have worked very hard to become a greener school. If you can think of any ways in which we can become 'greener' you can: - Let the green flag team know - Put forward an idea in the suggestion box - Attached to the eco board outside the office - Tell your class council rep your idea. |
