We are now a registered charity and our objectives, as set out in our constitution, are designed to advance the education of pupils in the school, in particular by:

Developing effective relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the school;
Engaging in activities or providing facilities or equipment which support the school and advance the education of the pupils.

Up and Coming Events

Christmas Bazaar on Friday 4th December 5pm - 7pm with Arts and Crafts in Hall, Colour Stalls in Yr2, Refreshments in another Class. Each year group has a different colour for their Christmas Bazaar stall. If you know your colour early enough, you can keep your eyes peeled for a suitable item.

Current Fundraising Targets

For the 2009-2010 academic year we have decided to focus on contributing towards the aim of purchasing two additional mobile laptop trolleys for the school.

Last Year's Achievements

During the 2008-2009 our fundraising efforts enabled the following donations to the school:

£5,500 for a Laptop Trolley
£1000 for a greenhouse
£740 for the Year 6 trip to Mersea
£358 for Glockenspiels
Other donations amounting to £200

Over the course of the year we organised several events for families, adults and children. Last year (2008/2009) these included:

'Tea and Tissues' for new parents
'Bags 2 School' recycling scheme

Current Structure
The Friends of Layer School is an association which is open to anyone with the school’s interests at heart. If you wish to become a member, you are committing only to helping out occasionally – for example manning the “till” at the book fair in November, helping on a stall at the Christmas Bazaar or helping out at the Junior Discos in December. Becoming a member of FOLS does NOT make you a member of the committee – you don’t have to attend meetings or do anything other than help out occasionally.

From the members of FOLS, we create a committee, who meet regularly to organise the fundraising events. Following the Annual General Meeting on 18th September 2009 there have been some changes to the committee:
