| FOLS (Friends of Layer School) Committee comprises a strong team of parents who are committed to developing effective relationships between all stakeholders of the school. The team work tirelessly to organise and run activities that provide enjoyment to all, whilst raising funds that are used to further advance the education of all pupils. FOLS is a registered charity. The association is open to anyone who is a parent or carer of a child at Layer School. Being a member of the FOLS does not make you a member of the committee – you don’t have to attend meetings or do anything other than helping out occasionally. The Committee is formed from volunteer members, who meet regularly to discuss and organise the various events. The current committee is: Chair Dave Johnston Vice Chair Anita Kittle Treasurer/Secretary Gareth Nock with regular attendees: Steve Smeets, Janine O’Leary, Sarah Viner, Katrina Wells, Cheryl Helsden, Jo Larkin, Harriet Cock, Caroline Green, Louise Heward, Laura Harvey and Sarah Knuckey. We welcome anyone who wishes to become involved, either as an occasional helper or as a committee member. Please approach any of the members mentioned above, or ask the school for contact details. For the academic year 2011/12 FOLS’ estimated fundraising is over £4,500; this will be put towards identified resources in each class (including Forest Schools in Year 3 and outdoor furniture for Years 5 and 6); funding the annual Year 6 Mersea trip and covering the cost of a number of activities such as school discos. Fundraising activities for this year are to include a Quiz Night in March, the annual Summer Fete on 30 June and a BBQ in July. |
