| The School Council helps to ensure that all pupils in school have:- - A safe, happy, fair learning environment. - A way to voice their concerns, allowing the School Council to to act upon them. - An opportunity to become involved in supporting the School Council - An opportunity to take an active part in the school - Experience of democracy Our School Council meets after school every Tuesday afternoon from 3.15 – 4pm. School Council representatives are dedicated and hardworking; often working in break and lunchtimes to complete tasks. The School Council is run in the same way as any ‘grown-up’ committee with an appointed Chair, Deputy Chair and Secretary. Minutes of the meetings are taken and where appropriate acted upon before the next meeting. The School Council Reps this year are:- Year One- Harvey S and Betty G Year Two- Amy B and Charlie B Year Three- Brandon J and Skye O'L Year Four- Ben B and Ella D Year Five- Megan F and Poppy NB Year Six- Harry R and Charlotte C Our School Council representatives are given experience of:- - Planning, organising and monitoring small projects. - Speaking, listening and debating - Mediation and negotiation skills - Basic budgeting and managing money In addition they are encouraged to develop:- - Their understanding of how the school runs. - An understanding that their contribution matters and their voice will be heard. - Responsibility towards the school community and environment. The School Council focus for the year is to develop story telling at lunchtimes. The School Council charity for the year is The Catherine Bullen Foundation (Making a difference in rural Namibia) |
