| Layer School maintains close links with both the parish and the local church of St John the Baptist, led by Reverend Martin Clarke. The Headteacher writes a monthly entry for the local parish magazine that informs the local community about school developments and events. The school choir performs at village events, including the Good Companions annual Christmas Dinner. The school hosts regular Messy Church sessions, in collaboration with Reverends Martin Clarke and Julia Russell Grant, which are extremely popular. Martin and Julia also visit the school regularly, either to do whole school assemblies with the children or to talk with classes of children about the church. The whole school walk to the church twice a year and hold a service celebrating Christmas and Easter, which is a very special time for everyone. |
